Youth work

at wrbc hitchin

We're proud of the wide range of groups on offer to children and young people at Walsworth Road. As part of our commitment to our youth, we appointed a dedicated Youth Worker in conjunction with Phase Hitchin back in 2016.

We run groups for children and young people on Sundays, host meetings throughout the week and also sponsor both Scout and Guide groups that meet in our Church Hall. We have connections with several of the primary and secondary schools across Hitchin, as well as through Phase. Find out more about the groups and activities on offer as well as how to contact them below.

Linked to schools in Hitchin

Through our support of Phase, we work closely with a number of local schools. As well as supporting Year 6 students prepare for the transition from primary to secondary school, we are exploring an initiative called 'Open The Book' with several schools which takes the message of the Bible directly into the classroom.

Every few years, we host an art exhibition in the school with pieces from the local primary schools all based around a central theme. We held Hitchin ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ in July as part of our WRBC150 Celebrations.- read about it here

In the autumn term, we approach the schools as part of our annual Shoebox Project who collectively have donated over 12,000 shoeboxes in the 16 years we've run the project in Hitchin!

Holiday Club

Each year we organise a free four day Holiday Club for children aged from Reception up to Year 6. Previous years themes have included SuperDan, Monsters Stink! , The Great Escape and Go MAD!

Held in the last week of the summer holidays and concluding with a Fish 'n' Chips meal on the Friday evening, Holiday Club 2020 is guaranteed to be full of fun, games, activities and Bible stories - registration details coming soon!
