Breakfast Bar
We had noticed that a number of children were rushing
to school without getting any breakfast. Since the Church
Building is located on a main road close to Hitchin
Girls School it seemed appropriate to provide a breakfast
bar to meet this need in the community.
In September 2007 we opened the breakfast bar which
provides a free breakfast (cereals, fresh fruit, toast
and hot drinks) to secondary school children on their
way to school in a safe environment. While we believed
that there was a need for this in the community when
we opened we had expected the uptake to be slow. However
from day one it was clear that there were a number of
children who found this a useful service.
Breakfast bar runs from 7.45am to 8.30am and is staffed
by volunteers from the Church. As with all such groups
all volunteers are certified by CRB as being suitable
to work with children.
